The Connecticut Valley Tobacco Museum invites you to explore an exciting evening of art, history, memory sharing, and culture during the exhibition launch of “Brilliance in the Valley: War-era HBCU Student Labor Migration to Connecticut and other Northern Tobacco Farms.” This FREE, one-time event features the unveiling of a vibrant mobile mural by Ellis Echevarria, an artist talk, a film screening of Stepping into the Shade, a community conversation, live music, and a supper buffet.
The film screening will entail scenes from the documentary that illuminate the interwoven history between HBCUs and migrant tobacco farming during the World War II era.
